Ana Cristina Furtado Rebelo
Researcher

A.C. Rebelo obtained her PhD in Marine Sciences by the University of the Azores in 2016.

Her research focuses on the study of rhodoliths (nodules of coralline red algae, Rhodophyta) around reefless oceanic volcanic islands.

Over the last 5 years, she published 4 first-authored and 9 co-authored papers in international peer reviewed journals.

In total she published 13 papers and 1 book chapter. She presents regularly work at national and international conferences, and actively participated on the organization of international workshops.

She gave invited talks, and served as a reviewer for journals such as J. Palaeontol. Soc. Ind., The Sci. J. of Soil and Water Science, and Acta Palaeobotanica.

Her work also featured in 4 science documentaries aired in the Portuguese national TV.

She secured funding at the highest national level, as attested by her FCT doctoral and postdoctoral grants.

As PI, she secured funding for the organisation of the 14th International Workshop - Palaeontology in Atlantic Islands (Azores, July 2017).

In January 2018, as co-PI, a research grant by the German Research Foundation (DFG) was approved to carry out fieldwork in Cape Verde.
