Gustavo M. Martins

Gustavo M. Martins is currently head of the LAB-Algae lab at AQUAZOR where he coordinates the experimental laboratory for the cultivation of marine macroalgae at off-shore structures. He was a post-doctoral research between 2010 and 2018. He has a degree in Biology (University of the Azores), a Master of Reserch in Marine Biology (University of Plymouth) and a PhD in Marine Ecology (University of Plymouth). He is an independent and experienced marine ecologist with: (i) a range of publications in peer-reviewed journals, (ii) a successful ability to secure external funding (both as grants and research projects) with over €800K, and (iii) a large experience in the supervision of students. He has currently +45 publications with a total of 530 citations and an H-index of 14 (SCOPUS). He is a co-authour of two book chapters one published by Wiley-Blackwell, the other by Cambridge University Press- He is an academic editor of PloS One and a regular reviewer for several scientific outlets. He was part the scientific committee of the 43rd European Marine Biology Symposium. Between 2015 and 2018 he collaborated in lecturing experimental design in the 3 CBIO doctoral programme at the University of the Azores.
