Lurdes Borges Silva, she graduated in Biotechnology Engineering (2007).  Since 2012 holds a master’s degree in Plants Biodiversity and Biotechnology. In January of 2018, she completed her PhD (Biology) in Forest Management - Exotic Woodland, at University of Azores.

Currently, Lurdes Borges Silva is affiliated to the Research Centre in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources (CIBIO-InBIO) performing research activity in invasive and endemic plants.

Research interests: Forest management, forest biomass, forest carbon stock, allometry, dendrometry, dendrochronology, invasive forests species, wood anatomy, forest ecosystems in islands, natural forests, ecological services, biodiversity patterns, population genetic patterns systems, phylogenetic studies,  morphologic studies and conservation of diversity on oceanic archipelagos.
