P. Madeira obtained her PhD in Biology, Biodiversity by the Faculty of Sciences of University of Lisbon, in 2019. Her research focuses on biodiversity and biogeography of echinoderm faunas, particularly those from reefless oceanic volcanic islands in the Atlantic. Over the last 5 years, she published 3 first-authored and 9 co-authored papers in international peer reviewed journals. In total she co-authored 21 papers and 2 books. She presents regularly work at national and international conferences, expeditions and oceanographic cruises, and actively participated on the organization of international workshops and congresses.
