Rodrigo Sousa holds a BSc in Marine Sciences and a Master in Environment, Health and Safety, both awarded by the University of the Azores.

His master thesis entitled "The documentary study of storminess in S. Miguel (Azores) between 1999 and 2019" aimed to understand how the stormisess have affected the population and how it has evolved in the last decades in terms of frequency, durability and intensity.

He's currently a research fellow in MITIMAC project and studies nature-based solutions with macrophytes to treat wastewaters as well as contamination sources of drinking water.
