Sílvia Quadros is graduated in Environmental Engineering by the University Nova de Lisboa (1992) and PhD in Environmental Sciences by the University of Azores (2011), where she is presently Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Sciences and Technology. Her main research interests are drinking water quality, wastewater treatment plant performance assessment, water and wastewater treatment technologies, with special emphasis to nature-based solutions for removal of microorganism, natural organic matter and contaminants of emerging concern. She has participated in several research projects and services, in the areas of drinking water quality, water management in livestock sector, inventory of water and sanitation infrastructure, performance evaluation of urban WWTP and mitigation of climate change through innovation in the water cycle using low carbon technologies.
She has authored 29 publications including articles in scientific journals, conference papers and technical reports. She has participated in numerous congresses and other scientific meetings, both national and international, where she presented 15 communications (oral and posters). She has extensive teaching experience in Water and wastewater systems, Water quality and human health, Waste management and Environmental management, having supervised 15 MSc students.
