CIBIO-Azores is taking part in MacaroNight Azores 2026

CIBIO-Azores is taking part in MacaroNight Azores 2026, running from 23 to 25 September at the Pavilhão das Portas do Mar in Ponta Delgada, to bring scientific research closer to the community and spark interest in science, particularly among young people.

Throughout the event, several researchers from CIBIO-Azores, including some junior researchers, will lead interactive activities designed to improve understanding of research in the Life Sciences and explore different research topics in an accessible, participatory way.

The activity ‘Zebrafish: a small fish for big discoveries’, coordinated by researcher Rúben Luz, includes Rita Cordeiro, João Manoel, Samara Albuquerque, Matilde Costa, Anastácia Carreiro and Francisca Lucas. Meanwhile, the activity “Guardians of Microbes: use antibiotics wisely and protect our health”, coordinated by António Machado, involves the researcher Tamara Duarte.

Taking part in MacaroNight also allows researchers to share their knowledge, develop science communication skills, and showcase to the public some of the contributions made by scientific research carried out at the University of the Azores.
