Participation in the 1st International Workshop on the Invasive Algae Rugulopteryx okamurae

Researchers from the University of the Azores took part in the 1st International Workshop on the Invasive Seaweed Rugulopteryx okamurae (link), held from 7 to 10 April 2025 in Málaga, Spain. Dr João Faria (CIBIO Açores) was a guest speaker and addressed the distribution, impacts and management challenges of the invasion of this seaweed in the Azores, while Dr Helder Nunes (IITAA) presented a poster on the seaweed's potential for feeding ruminants and mitigating methane production.
